waiting on wednesday: eight

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Title: The Selection
Author: Kiera Cass
Publication Date: 24 April 2012
Summary (courtesy of goodreads.com):
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.
It's March, people.  March!  That means it's time for me to start featuring upcoming April releases in my Waiting on Wednesday posts.  And I could feature The Selection every single week this month.  Seriously, that's how excited I am for it.  I don't watch The Bachelor, which a lot of people are bringing up when they talk about this book, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't watch it if it featured pretty dresses like the one on this cover.  And a prince, instead of...those dudes.  Honestly, I can't tell you where this massive amount of enthusiasm is coming from, but if I only read one book in April, this will be it.

  1. I have a copy of this book but I've heard not so good things about it. I'll give it a try though. Still a great pick! I'm excited to watch the TV series based on this though :)

  3. I've been waiting on this one forever! I love the bachelor theme of the book. Sounds so good! I don't know if I'll prefer the poor boy first love or the new rich prince! *bites nails* I've heard both good and bad reviews but I think I will like it. My friend just read it and she said it was cute but a bit predictable but that's okay with me. I enjoy some cute reads every now and then. Thanks for visiting My WOW!
